In the latest fallout from the state drug lab scandal, special court sessions started Monday for almost 200 prison inmates with drug cases in Suffolk County who are trying to get their convictions thrown out. Some of those inmates were released. WBUR’s Deb Becker was at court for some of the hearings and joined All Things Considered with the latest.
So far, officials have compiled more than 2 million records related to all drugs tested at the now-closed Hinton state drug lab. But the crisis’ full scope remains an ongoing question.
Annie Dookhan has been criminally charged with deliberately manipulating drug tests at the Hinton State Laboratory in Jamaica Plain, Mass., compromising at least 34,000 cases.
